I am me
I am me. My name is Penny Shackley. I am the owner of Penny’s Dream Note Cards and more. I live outside of Saltville VA. In a little bitty community called Lick Skillet. You can look it up; it is a real place. I live there with my hubby of over forty years. And our two dogs, Peanut and Roxie. Little dogs, under 10 lbs. (They are models for the don’t knock signs)
Been designing and creating paper crafts, cards, stickers, bookmarks, etc. for over 15 years. I only know that, because I have a Facebook album that is dated that far back. I love to design and create. You can probably say I am obsessed.
We have a small retail space in a local business in Saltville. It is called the Mercantile on West Main. There you will find local related items. You would find the same stuff in the Appalachian Charm collection, and prints, postcards, and some other stuff I thought would be a great fit for our little area.
The blue house in the logo is also a real place. It is an old house on our property. Everything I do is real. It is real paper, real ink, real imagination. Recently I heard that some of you believe that I could be a scammer. That I am not real. And that you shouldn’t buy from me because I am going to rip you off. That is not true. I would never intentionally steal anything from anyone.
Yes, all my stuff is handmade. With that comes something that is a little crooked, or misaligned. It is handmade, I feel that is expected. I do use some AI products to bring my imagination to life. Mostly Canva and Copilot. They are tools, not the product.
I do make mistakes, I am human. That is to be expected also. However, I do try to own up and make it right. I think that is the right thing to do. That is why we have a 30-day return policy. (You will have to pay for return shipping, couple stamps)
I know I am a little quirky, I know that my designs are not everyone’s cup of tea. Like my stuff, don’t like my stuff, take it or leave it. That is totally up to you.
I don’t have a business phone, or business address, I work out of my studio in my home. You are more than welcome to use the contact form to reach out. I will be happy to help in any way that I can.

Born in the mountains, built with sass.
This shop is stitched together with stories, stubbornness, and a whole lot of heart.
I’m Penny—creator, storyteller, and proud Appalachian mischief-maker. Raised in Fairbanks, Alaska but rooted in the rhythms of the Blue Ridge, I’ve always believed that the best things in life come with a little grit and a whole lot of charm.
This shop started as a spark—one product, one idea, one late-night brainstorm fueled by peach rings and pure determination. I wanted to build something that felt like home: warm, witty, and unapologetically real. Every collection I create is a love letter to the culture that raised me, the sass that fuels me, and the stories that connect us.
From Halloween haunts to Miss Peach elegance, each piece is designed to make you smile, feel seen, and maybe cackle a little. I believe in thoughtful packaging, clever alt text, and product descriptions that read like your favorite cousin telling a tale at the family reunion.
This isn’t just a shop—it’s a celebration. Of Appalachian pride. Of creative grit. Of finding joy in the details and meaning in the mischief.
So whether you’re here for the sass, the storytelling, or just to see what I’ve cooked up next—welcome. You’re part of the story now.
