How to Build a Note Card Set with Folder
By Penny | May 3, 2026 | 5 min read

That folder looks intimidating, right? It's not. I promise. This is one of those projects where the finished product looks like you spent way more time on it than you actually did. When you're done, you'll have a set of notecards with a matching folder that's ready to gift — or keep for yourself. No judgment.

Before You Start Here's the cheat code: black lines are FOLD lines, red lines are CUT lines. That's it. That's the whole system. |

Step 1 — Print the Cards
Print the inside of the notecards first. Then flip the paper over in the printer and print the front side. Two-sided magic without a fancy printer setting.
Step 2 — Cut and Score the Cards
Cut and score along the lines. Stack them up and set them aside. Look at you — you already have notecards.

Step 3 — Print the Folder
Print the inside of the folder first — same idea as the cards. Flip the paper and print the cover. You're getting good at this.

Step 4 — Cut and Score the Folder
This is the only part that takes a little finesse. The folder has two score lines. Fold one first, then use a straight edge to hold that fold down while you fold the other one. It sounds tricky but once you do it, you'll wonder why you were nervous.

Step 5 — Print the Corner Parts
Print the four corner pieces. These are what hold the cards and envelopes inside the folder. If you don't want white on the inside of the corners, print them with the background color page instead.

Step 6 — Cut, Score, and Shape the Corners
Cut and score the corners. Fold on the black line but don't press them flat — you want a little curve so they can actually hold things. Think pocket, not pancake.

Step 7 — Glue the Corners into the Folder
Glue each corner into the folder, lining them up along the edges. Four corners, four edges. Satisfying.

Step 8 — Load It Up
Cards on one side, envelopes on the other. Done.

Add a ribbon, a bow, a sticker, whatever makes you happy. This project is supposed to be fun — so have fun with it.
