How to Make a 3×6 Inch Handmade Notepad

✂️ How to Make a 3×6 Inch Handmade Notepad

If you’ve ever wanted to make your own notepad at home, this simple project walks you through the whole process — printing, cutting, stacking, gluing, and adding a cover. The SVG template gives you perfectly sized pieces, so there’s no measuring or guessing. Just follow the steps and enjoy the process.

📝 1. Choose How Many Pages You Want

This notepad is designed to be 3 × 6 inches.

The SVG layout is sized for a 30‑page notepad, which equals:

  • 10 printed sheets, front and back
  • 30 finished pages

You can make yours thicker or thinner by printing more or fewer sheets.

🖨️ 2. Print and Cut the Pages

Start by printing the front of your notepad pages.

If you want a pattern or design on the back, print that first, then flip the paper and print the fronts. This step is optional — blank backs work just as well.

After printing:

  • Cut the pages to 3 × 6 inches using the cut lines in the SVG.

This gives you a clean, uniform stack.

📘 3. Print and Cut the Cover

Print the cover on regular paper or cardstock.
You can double‑side print it if you want the inside to match your pages.

Then:

  • Cut the cover using the SVG cut lines.

Cover notes:

  • The black lines are fold lines.
  • The cover is sized to wrap neatly around a 3×6 inch pad.

🧱 4. Cut the Backing Using the SVG Template

The SVG includes a backing piece, so you don’t have to measure anything.

Cut the backing from:

  • posterboard
  • chipboard
  • or any sturdy scrap you have

This gives the notepad structure and keeps the pages firm.

📚 5. Stack & Align Your Pages

  1. Place your cut pages on top of the backing.
  2. Make sure the top edge is perfectly straight — this is the binding edge.
  3. Use large binder clips (the big black ones that flip over) to hold everything tight and aligned.

A clean stack makes a clean notepad.

🧴 6. Glue the Top Edge

You can use padding compound, PVA glue, or hot glue.

Apply glue across the entire top edge:

  • Make sure it covers every page
  • Make sure it bonds to the backing
  • Smooth it out with a scraper or a small paintbrush if you’re using wet glue

Let the glue cure completely according to the label.

📘 7. Attach the Cover

The cover is designed to hide the glued edge and wrap neatly around the pad.

For the cleanest result:

  1. Glue the center section (the part between the fold lines) to the top of the notepad first.
  2. Let that dry fully.
  3. Then glue the small back panel in place.
  4. Trim the cover if needed.

This two‑step method keeps the cover straight and prevents shifting.

✂️ Optional: Perforated Pages

Some notepad designs include perforated pages.

The perforation is simply there to make the pages easier to tear off once the notepad is finished.
You do not need to fold or crease the perforations during assembly.

Just print, cut, stack, and bind as usual.

🌿 Finished

You now have a sturdy, handmade 3×6 inch notepad — printed, cut, assembled, and bound right at home. Once you’ve made one, you can create them in any style or theme you like.
