Shopkeeper’s Dispatch: A January Reset
January always feels like a deep breath on Clinch Mountain. The rush of the holidays settles, the shop quiets just enough for me to hear myself think again, and everything shifts into that slow, steady rhythm I trust more than anything.
This is the time of year when I reset the shelves — both the real ones and the digital ones — and look at what’s working, what’s not, and what needs a little tending. The new Tuesday listing day has already brought a calmer flow to the week, and the Newly Listed collection is doing exactly what I hoped: giving every fresh piece a clear, easy‑to‑find home without making you dig through the whole shop.
Behind the scenes, I’ve been leaning into the same porch‑paced approach that’s carried this shop from an idea to a living, breathing catalog. Slow building. Clear categories. Emotional logic over seasonal chaos. It’s the kind of work that doesn’t always show on the surface, but it keeps the whole place steady for you and for me.
January is also when I pay attention to what the shop is teaching me — what you’re drawn to, what stories you linger on, what pieces feel alive. Running a one‑woman shop means I’m always balancing creativity, clarity, and the simple truth that there are only so many hours in a day — and I want them to feel good for both of us.
So this month is about resetting, refining, and remembering why I do things the way I do: intentionally, sustainably, and with enough breathing room to enjoy the process.
Thanks for being here, for reading along, and for supporting this little mountain shop. If you ever have ideas, questions, or things you’d love to see, I’m always listening.
